Make dinner

  1. 01

Heat the oven to 375°F. Mix beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion, seasoning, Worcestershire, and 3/4 teaspoon salt.

  2. 02

Pat half the mixture into a rectangle on a lined sheet pan. Lay mozzarella down the center, leaving a 1-inch border.

  3. 03

Cover with the remaining beef and seal the edges. Shape into an even loaf and spread with ketchup.

  4. 04

Bake until the center reaches 160°F, 38 to 45 minutes. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Useful swaps

  • Use provolone instead of mozzarella.
  • Gluten-free breadcrumbs work without changing the method.

Why this is a good weeknight call

It keeps the cleanup to one main pan. The ingredient list stays focused, and the recipe has a clear stopping point instead of extra optional projects.
